Kyrov Works held the summer games 2008
On June 4 2008, a grand sports event entitled “Sports and Health” dedicated to the 207th anniversary of the Kirov Works took place. The Kyrov Works Olympics that traditionally opens the summer sports season is annually convened by the Kirovets Sports Club jointly with the Kirovskiy rayon administration. This year, over 2.5 thousand persons including not only workers of the Kirov Works OAO, but also many residents of the Narva Outliers.
The festive opening ceremony of the Olympics has been attended by M.L. Novikov, Human Resources and Marketing Director of the Kirov works group, A.S. Voskoboynikov, Asset Management Director, A.A. Sashin, Director for Legal Issues, B.I. Tkachenko, Director for General Issues, S.M. Panteleev, Chairman of the Trade Union Committee and A.S. Olkhovskiy, Member of Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly, Chairman of the Standing Commission for Industry, Economy and Properties, N.V. Boreiko, Deputy Head of the Kirovskiy Rayon Administration, A.P. Zavyalov, a Honorary Worker of Kirov Works, L.P. Shiyanov, Chairman of the Rossiay Association of Trade Union Sport Clubs of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad, Oblast, N.P. Tyurin, Master of Sports, Stadium Director and referee of the competitions. After welcoming speeches a parade of the sports teams of Kirov Works subsidiaries took place.
After that the contest as such has begun. Award sets have been contested for in twelve sports: track and field relay, tug-of-war, volleyball, mini-soccer, gorodki, arm wrestling, darts, chess, checkers, ping-pong and weight lifting. In parallel, other sports contests took place where the family members and guests of the event were happy to take part. According to the overall score, the first place has been won by: in the 1st group, by Kirov Energomash ZAO, in the 2nd group, by Lokomotiv ZAO. Other prize-winners of the Olympics have become ZAO MZ Petrostal, Kirov Works Corporate Center, Kirov Instrument LLC and Spetsprivod ZAO.
In the framework of the Olympics, the honoring of the young members of the training clubs from the works took place: unarmed self-defense, which has become 50 years old this year, and women’s fitness, which has become 30 in May. According to the instruction of Gennadiy Petrovich Semenenko, the Kirov works Director General, veterans of these sports clubs having achieved high outcomes in sports and work performance have been conferred the awards: golden dress suit badge – to Arkadiy Nikonovich Zaitsev, USSR champion of 1963, who currently keeps working at the Kirov Works; silver dress suit badge – to Alexander Grigorievich Zavitukhin, one of the first graduates from the training club, who has worked at the factory for 49 years, and Albert Nikolayevich Rublevskiy having worked at the factory for 49 years, and Albert Nikolayevich Rubkevskiy, who has been one of the first unarmed self-defense fighters at the factory to be conferred the title of the USSR Master of Sports. Gratitude Letters from Director General have been awarded to Head of the Club, International Class Referee and Honorary Trainer of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Davydovich Malakhovskiy and also the triple World Champion and Champion of Europe, Distinguished Master of Sports of the USSR and Honorary Trainer of the USSR Mr. Anton Vladimirovich Novikov. Another recipient of the Gratitude Letter was Yulia Fedorovna Popova, one of the founders and continuous leader of the women’s fitness group.
It can be confidently stated today that the Kirov workers are each year ever more actively taking part in the corporate sports events. As a comment to the outputs of the Olympics, N.P. Tyurin, Chairman of the Kirovets Sports Club told what he is seeing as the main point of this sports festival: “Our task is to involve as many Kirov workers to the fitness and active recreation as possible. We need to seek to identify the forms of leisure that, on the one hand, are akin to sports, while on the other hand are filled with positive emotions, fun, joy and game. That is because for any successful corporation, a committed team charged with positive emotions is undoubtedly one of the greatest values.”
