On June 4, a traditional summer sports fest is to take place at the Kirovets Stadium (Perekopskaya Street, 6/8) dedicated to the 207th Anniversary of Putilov/Kirov Works. The event will be attended by the workers of the Kirov Works and its subsidiaries and their family members. The summer Olympics have been held at the Works for 80 years already and are very popular with the Kirov workers: the number of participants in 2007 made over 2000 persons.
The participants to the sports fest are scheduled to get together at 16.00. The official opening ceremony for the festival will be preceded by the performances by the groups from Culture and Creativity Center named after I.I. Gaz and line- up of the teams. Prior to the beginning of the contests, a parade of the participants and athletes’ show will take place. In the course of the ceremonial part of the festival, the athletes and guests will be welcomed by the CEOs of the joint-stock company, representatives from the city and rayon authorities and sports veterans of the Kirov Works and awarding ceremony for the best athletes and sport clubs of the company will take place.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of unarmed self-defense club at the Kirov Works and 30th anniversary of the women’s fitness club under the auspices of the Kirovets Sports Club, as per ordinance of Director General, the most distinguished athletes will be awarded honorary badges of the Kirov Works OAO.
The program of contests this year will be as usual full and diverse. The Kirov workers will be able to test their skill in the team contests: track-and-filed relay, tug-of-war, volleyball, mini-soccer, and in the personal contests in arm wrestling, darts, chess, checkers, in ping-pong and other sports games and competitions. Upon the completion of each specific contest, the awards are awaiting winners and prize-winners.
Corporate recreation activities are an important trend in the social policies at the Kirov Works. The festivals like Day of the Works, Landscaping Day, festive celebrations of jubilees and memorable dates. Over 40 sports events take place each year.
