On Saturday, May 24, the Kirov Works has in a festive setting celebrated the 207th anniversary from the day of its foundation. The honored guests of the festival were the leaders of the city and rayon administration, Saint Petersburg Legislative Assembly, business community members, high level military commanders, commanders of the partner military units and institutions, famous people of Saint Petersburg and factory veterans. But the main participants to the Day of the Works were traditionally the Kirov workers themselves and their family members. From the very morning, a motley crowd had filled the factory premises decorated in a festive way.
Georgiy Petrovich Semenenko, Director General of Kirov Works OAO, has delivered a welcoming speech to gathering: “It has already been ten years since we have been year by year growing and increasing the output of the product. Thanks to the efforts of the Kirov Works employees, we are through with the rehabilitation period and on the track of steady growth. The company is turning into a modern innovative enterprise. We have a great burden of responsibility vis-à-vis the people who worked here before us and we are ready to turn our potential into energy that will enable us to achieve new results.” Head of Kirovskiy Rayon Administration A.V. Filatov has expressed his esteem of the company employees. “The history of the Works is the history of our homeland,” he emphasized. “Today the company has a firm foothold like never before,” emphasized Andrei Viktorovich.
The festive lottery has been the culmination of the factory day celebration, in the course of which VAZ 21054 car was the jackpot. On that day, the luck has been with Svetlana Abramova, operator of the gear-cutting section in workshop 225 of the Petersburg Tractor Factory. A person who endured many hardships, having hearing a speech disabilities, she appeared on stage accompanied by sign language interpreter, Sergey Osmirko, who also chairs the Vozrozhdeniye Organization for People with Disabilities at the Works, and her small son with whom she has come to the festival.
It should be mentioned that the prize has gone to somebody who really needed it. The Kirov workers have welcomed the news as a remarkable sensations with a storm of ovations and shouts of approval. Gennadiy Petrovich Semenenko, Director General of the Kirov Works, has awarded the keys for the new car to Svetlana Abramkova and expressed his confidence that this gift of fortune will pave the way for changes for the better in the life of her family.
A ceremony of conferring the titles of “Distinguished Kirov Worker” and “Honorary Veteran of the Kirov Works OAO” has taken place. The latter has been conferred this year to Mikhail Boyarskiy, Distinguished Artist of Russia. Honorary signs “To the young Kirov worker for the success in labor” have been given to the most promising young specialist of the enterprise. The festive part has finished by an impressive parade of the best samples of the machinery produced by the Kirov Works OAO.
The entertainment program prepared for the guests of the festival has been equally breathtaking. The creative collective from the I.I. Gaz Culture and Creativity Center have performed for the participants along with variety show artists from Saint Petersburg and Fontanka Circus and participants to the Kirov Works Creativity Festival. A concert of Distinguished Artist of Russia Mikhail Boyarskiy took place at the central square.
The laughter of children has been heared at the works’ premises for the entire day: the youngest participants to the event have been having fun at the rides, trampolines and autodrome, took part in the sports games and contests and followed carefully the performance of the mimes from the Mimigrants theatre. During that time their parents have got an opportunity to attend the contest exhibition Kirov Craftsmen Shop, where the creativity works of the company employees have been displayed. Specially for the festival, one more exhibit have been prepared: an exhibition of the samples of military machinery and firearms developed by the Kirov Works specialists.
The Day of Kirov Works has been especially remarkable this year. The success of the festival, which has already become traditional is another confirmation of the fact that the Kirov Workers feel themselves as an integer whole, a big and devoted team of committed people.
