At the 12th International Exhibition MiningWorld Russia: Mining Equipment: Mining and Enrichment of Ores and Minerals that took place in Moscow on April 16-18, the Kirov Works has become the winner of the Golden Miner of the Year award. The prestigious award has been conferred on ZAO Petersburg Tractor Works, which is a subsidiary of the Kirov Works OAO in the Best Novelty of the Year nomination for the development and implementation in production of the Kirovets 3060 forklift. This victory is especially valuable since this year over 180 companies from 20 countries of the world took part in that largest sectoral exhibition that brings together professionals of mining industry and presents a full range of goods and services of the mining industry.
The Golden Miner of the Year award is a large-scale project of the first information and analytical Internet resource “Russia’s Mining Portal” () which is implemented under the support of the Mining Journal and Mining world Russia exhibition. The purpose of the award is to show to the society the modern state of the mining sector and outline the prospects for the development of the mineral and mining sector in the country and promote a positive image of the mining community representatives nationally and internationally.
The names of the Golden Miner winner are determined on the basis of a questionnaire. This year the survey arranged on the basis of a special methodology has covered over 30 leading experts in the mining sector. Totally on the basis of the contest outputs the organizing Committee which has been comprised by the heads of the largest mining and metallurgy companies has conferred awards in eight nominations.
The award winner diploma and a statue of the “Miners’ Oscar”, a bronze figure of a miner with a rock-drill and golden nugget in the hands was presented to Alexander Krikunov, Director of Petersburg Tractor Factory by L. Puchkov, who came to Moscow especially for the award ceremony correspondent member of the Russian Academy of Science and MGGU President.
In his speech Alexander Krikunov has commented as follows on hi victory: “Winning the prize is very pleasant, since it is a reward not only for the labor our big team has invested in the creation of K-3060, but also the recognition of out multiannual efforts for the creation of mining machinery as a whole.”
